One Thing I’ve Learned As Mrs. Classique’ Globe 2022

(by Angela Lee Pickard Mrs. Classique' Globe 2022 )

In a blink of an eye, a year flew by and it’s now time to crown my successor. As I ponder on my year reign and the lessons I’ve learnt along the way, there are many and perhaps a written book to document them in the future. The one greatest thing I’ve learnt is that I’m capable of more! This is my story and a few inspirational tips on how to level up.

Firstly, be fearless! Never underestimate our gifted abilities. In order to elevate our skills, we must seek to push its limits. Hence do not be afraid to test uncharted waters, lead because you can. This affirmation gave me the courage to break glass ceilings. Why was it important to make a stand and to lead by example? In our Asian culture, women are seen but rarely heard, it is the result of a patriarchal society.

Furthermore as a mature woman, some question “How dare I be seen as youthful, sexy and talented?” Often reminded by peers “Hey, you are a classic, dress and act your age!” My unwavering response is always “Never”. Like it or not this is my authentic self, I am cheeky, fun, enthusiastic, playful, a talented fashionista with a powerful voice. By choice bidding farewell to the ridged box that society has kept me, I vow to be a new voice for all mature women because it is time for a change.

Secondly, take that leap, learn and leap again. Life is a continuous journey of growth, learning and understanding. The lesson for me is not to be stagnant, choosing productivity instead. Venturing into my YouTube channel Lee’Beaute in my late forties, knowing little or close to nothing about it didn’t stop me. Instead, I read, researched and upgraded my skill set to realise this passion. Not an easy task but with baby steps I believe I will succeed. Note to self, trials are lessons to teach us, victories are lessons to cheer us, they go in tandem, hand in hand, pretty much like the thrilling ups and downs of a roller coaster ride. At the end of the journey it will take your breath away.

Finally, choose your people, surround yourself with a community that lifts you. Family and friends that hear, understand, love and support you unconditionally. Remember success often takes teamwork.

Warren Buffet said it best “If you want to be successful surround yourself with successful people”.

In conclusion, without a doubt, Mrs. Globe will always be my people. This year alone, the encouragement, tips and tools I’ve had the privilege to master enabled me to blossom. I’ve finally gotten my wings to fly and like they say, “The Sky’s The Limit!”
